OFA Level 2: Course Overview
Our Work Safe BC Occupational First Aid Level 2 program is a 36 hour course. In which participants must be present for all lessons and hand in all required homework assignments. Successful candidates will be able to perform all necessary emergency first aid skills and techniques as outlined by the standard grading criteria designed and recognized by Work Safe BC, through written multiple-choice test as well as a practical evaluation on physical skills.
Why Take OFA Level 2?
First aid training will benefit any company,Not only are your staff better prepared to deal with any medical emergency that might arise on the job, it also shows that you as an employer care about those who work for you.
If you’re looking for an occupational first aid course that goes beyond a level 1, but are unable to commit to the full 70 hours oflevel 3, then level 2 may be your best choice. You or your employees will get a full week of first aid training – both in the classroom and practical training.
The multiple choice test is done on the Friday afternoon and the Practical test is done on the Saturday or Sunday (your instructor will schedule that with you).

Responding to unresponsive patients
Introduction to self-ambulatory walk in patients
Minor wound care
Upper limb fractures/dislocations
Cervical spine support (C-Spine)
Airway management techniques for responsive and unresponsive patients
Management of respiratory failure and distress
Cardiac arrest/CPR and Automated External Defibrillator (AED)
OFA Level 2 is a more comprehensive course, it is important that you pick up your materials prior to the start of the course and complete the pre-course reading. Your materials will consist of:

Upon completion of OFA Level 2, you will be required to pass an examination conducted by a person authorized by Worker’s Compensation Board. The exam will be scheduled within a week following the last day of course and consists of both written and practical segments. A grade of 70% or higher is required for successful certification.
OFA Level 2 certification is valid for three years following the examination.

Metro Safety Training believes in ensuring the safety of all, regardless of your profession and background. We’re all faced with emergency crises from time to time, and it pays to learn the basics of first aid training.
Our First Aid Level 2 Program is designed for those who can’t devote 70 hours to emergency training.
The 36-hour course will equip you with necessary first aid skills as highlighted in the guidelines of Work Safe BC.

Only the original receipt will be accepted to qualify for a refund.
No refund will be given for books not in resale-able condition.
Registrants with confirmed applications who do not notify us of their cancellation and who do not attend the course is liable for the entire fee. (For OFA Level 1 and the safety training courses, 48-hour notice is required. For OFA Level 2 and 3; three business days notice is required)
REFUNDS BEFORE COURSE START
If written request is received within 7 days of the date of registration OR if written request is received 30 calendar days or more before the course start date Metro Safety Training will retain an administration fee equal to a maximum of 10% of the tuition fee. For all other written requests received prior to course date Metro Safety Training will retain an administration fee equal to a maximum of 20% of the tuition fee.
REFUNDS AFTER COURSE START
No refund will be given after the course starts.
Courses are transferrable within 6 months of original course date. If you cannot make your course, the office must be notified 3 business days prior to course date. A $50 transfer fee will be applied to transfers of any OFA Level 2 or 3 course.
